Serbia motorway tolls: plan the entry, exit and payment
Take an entry ticket or use an equipped ETC lane
Serbia uses motorway tolls rather than a national time-based vignette. With manual payment, take the magnetic entry card and hand it to the operator at your exit. Electronic toll collection uses a compatible ETC device and marked lanes. A vignette bought for Hungary or another neighbouring country does not pay Serbian motorway tolls.
Calculate the journey you will actually drive
For a journey from Belgrade towards North Macedonia, select Belgrade and Preševo in the official calculator. If you leave the motorway at Niš instead, select that exit: the price is not a flat fee for crossing Serbia. For the Stara Pazova toll station, the operator instructs users to select Belgrade. Check the vehicle category before accepting the result, especially with a trailer or a taller vehicle.
Payment and the return journey
Manual toll lanes accept cash and the payment cards listed by the operator, including Visa and Mastercard. Keep your entry card until you pay. Budget separately for the return motorway journey and any neighbouring-country vignette. The planner keeps distance-based tolls outside the total for fixed-price vignettes, so that total alone is not the complete cost of the trip.
